Safeguarding at Hazles Farm Childcare

At Hazles Farm Childcare, the safety, wellbeing and happiness of every child is our highest priority. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children in our care, ensuring they are protected from harm, abuse and neglect at all times.

Our Safeguarding Commitment

 We believe that:

  • All children have the right to be protected from all forms of abuse and harm.
  • Everyone has a responsibility to promote children’s welfare and to work in ways that keep them safe.

Safeguarding is embedded in everything we do and is the responsibility of all staff, students, volunteers and visitors within our setting.

How We Keep Children Safe

To ensure the highest standards of safeguarding, we:

  • Maintain a child-centred approach, always acting in the best interests of the child.
  • Create a safe, secure and supportive environment where children feel confident to express themselves and raise concerns.
  • Listen to children and ensure their voices, feelings and experiences are valued and heard, using appropriate communication tools and advocacy where needed.
  • Remain vigilant and respond promptly and appropriately to any concerns, disclosures, incidents or allegations.
  • Ensure that no child or group of children is treated less favourably and take additional steps to support children who may be more vulnerable.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers and external agencies to safeguard children effectively.

Trained and Trusted Staff

All staff at Hazles Farm Childcare:

  • Receive regular safeguarding training, kept up to date in line with statutory guidance.
  • Are trained to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect.
  • Understand the procedures for reporting concerns and know who the Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are within the setting.
  • Follow robust safer recruitment procedures, including enhanced DBS checks.

Clear Policies and Procedures

 Our safeguarding practices follow:

  • The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS 2025)
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children
  • All relevant safeguarding and welfare requirements

We have clear policies in place covering safeguarding, child protection, behaviour management, health and safety, and special educational needs. These policies are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain effective and up to date.

Working with Parents and Carers

We believe safeguarding works best when everyone works together. We encourage open and honest communication with parents and carers and welcome discussions about any concerns, no matter how small they may seem. Parents are always welcome to speak to their child’s key worker or a member of the management team.

If you ever have concerns about your child’s safety or wellbeing, please speak to us, we are here to help.
